오늘의 TOEIC Reading 공부 #14 - 가정법

조건문은 실현 가능한 사실을 언급할 떄 쓴다.

If 주어 현재형, 명령문 또는 주어 + 현재형/미래형

ex) If there is any money left in the budget, we recommend purchasing a DVD writer which will allow you to efficiently back up your materials.

ex) If your balance is not paid by the due date, a late charge of two percent will be imposed.

가정법 과거는 불가능한 현실에 대한 가정을 할 떄 쓴다.

If 주어 과거동사, 주어 + would/should/could/might + 동사원형

ex) If I were an architect, I would design a house to live in myself.

( be 동사의 경우 주어, 인칭에 상관없이 were 를 쓴다. )

가정법 과거완료는 일어나지 않은 과거의 일에 대해 가정을 할 떄 쓰인다.

If 주어 had p.p, 주어 would/should/could/might + have p.p.

ex) If the sales data had been entered into the computer by Friday, the final report might have been available for the monthly meeting.

ex) Had the sales data been entered into the computer by Friday, the final report might have been available for the monthly meeting.

( if 가 생략되면 had 가 앞으로 가면서 도치가 된다. )

가정법 미래는 일어날 가능성이 거의 없는 일을 가정할 때 쓰인다. 주로 격식을 중시하는 상업용 서신에서 사용된다. 가정법 미래의 경우 if 를 생략하고 주어와 동사가 도치된 형태가 자주 출제된다.

If 주어 should 동사원형, 명령문 또는 주어 will/shall/can/may/would + 동사원형

ex) If you should have any questions about discounted pricing for large groups, feel free to contact the Training Facility.

ex) Should you have any questions about discounted pricing for large groups, feel free to contact the Traning Facility.

( If 가 생략되면 should 가 도치되어 나온다. )

혼합 가정법은 과거의 사실이 현재에 영향을 미칠 때 사용한다.

주로 현재의 시간을 나타내는 now, today 등이 주절에 쓰인다.

If 주어 had p.p, 주어 would/should/could/might 동사원형

ex) If the bus had left on time, I would be home by now.

요구/제안의 동사 + that + 주어 ( should + ) 동사원형

내 생각은 이래 with 약간의 강요 혹은 ~해줘 의 느낌 동사들.

ex) The board recommended that every employee receive a five percent pay increase next year.

It is 이성/판단의 형용사 + that + 주어 + (should + ) + 동사원형

        imperative ( 필수적인 )

        essential

        natural

It is   important           + that + 주어 + 동사원형

        necessary

        strange

ex) It is imperative that the sales manager leave for Hong Kong immediately.

ex) In a crisis situation, it is essential that the leader remain calm.

ex) It was important that he take a rest.
